Sybase Client Drivers Installation

To perform an Audit on a Sybase ASE dataserver, you must have the Sybase ASE ODBC driver installed on your workstation. The Sybase ASE ODBC driver is packaged with the Sybase ASE Client driver. AppDetectivePro uses the Sybase ASE ODBC driver to access your Sybase dataserver. Specifically, AppDetectivePro supports Sybase client versions 12.5.2 and 15.

Note: Sybase client version 12.5.4 does not work with AppDetectivePro.

To check if you have the proper Sybase ODBC driver installed:

  1. Choose Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
  2. Double click the Administrative Tools icon.
  3. Double click the Data Sources (ODBC) icon.
  4. Click the Drivers tab.
  5. Scroll down and check if you have either the Sybase ASE ODBC Driver or the Adaptive Server Enterprise ODBC Driver installed (in the Name column).
  6. If you:
    • Have the drivers on your machine, you are ready to use AppDetectivePro’s security Audit feature.
    • Do not have the driver installed, go to Downloading and Installing Sybase ASE ODBC Drivers.

To download and install Sybase ASE ODBC drivers:

Refer to the Sybase installation CDs shipped with your database installation to obtain the correct Sybase ASE ODBC drivers, or download them from http://download.sybase.com/eval/ASE_1252_DE/pcclient_1252.zip.

The Adaptive Server Enterprise ODBC Driver version 15.x is not a free download. Refer to the Sybase installation CDs shipped with your database installation to obtain it. If you do not have this, you can obtain the Adaptive Server Enterprise ODBC driver in the Software Developer kit as a licensed contact, or for purchase. Alternately, you can try to download a free Developer’s Edition copy of ASE 15.x from Sybase. However, AppSecInc is not responsible for the time frame in which Sybase is making this available.

Note: You must install the ODBC component. When installing, perform a custom install to verify that the ODBC component is marked for installation.
