Lotus Notes Client Installation Procedure

In order to use the Lotus Domino vulnerability assessment features of AppDetectivePro, you will need to install the Lotus Domino client, which is Lotus Notes. If you are already a Lotus Notes user, you do not need to reinstall the client drivers. You only need to find your ".id" file, which is typically located in the "C:\Lotus\Notes\Data" folder as well as know your valid password. Below is some information for how to obtain and install the Lotus Notes Client Software if you do not have them installed.

Obtaining Lotus Notes Client Software:

  1. Go to http://www-306.ibm.com/software/lotus/support/notes/support.html on the internet.

  2. Scroll down to the Download section and click on [View all downloads].

  3. In the "Additional search terms" type "7.0.2" and click on the search button.

  4. Scroll to and click on the "Download the IBM Lotus Domino and Notes 7.0.2 Maintenance Release" link.

  5. You will need to register in order to gain access to the download site.

Installation Procedure:

  1. Click on the setup file which you downloaded from the Lotus Website.

  2. The Welcome Screen will appear, click the "NEXT" button to continue.

  3. The License Screen will appear, click "YES" to agree to the license agreement.

  4. Enter your name and company name in the next screen. Click "NEXT" to continue.

  5. Leave the default installation directories on the next screen and choose "NEXT" to continue.

  6. Choose the "Typical Setup" radio button in the following window and press "NEXT".

  7. Choose the Folder to install Lotus Notes Program Icons into and choose "NEXT".

  8. The install will take place.

Starting Lotus Notes for the First Time:

A valid Lotus Notes account needs to be set up for you by your Domino Administrator. Your administrator will provide you with a password as well as a ".id" file which you will copy into your "C:\Lotus\Notes\Data" folder. The following steps will take place the first time you run Lotus Notes. Ask your administrator if you are unsure about the proper responses to give.

  1. Click "Start-Run->Lotus Applications->Lotus Notes"

  2. The "Setting up Connections" screen will appear. Click "NEXT" to continue.

  3. The "Connect to Domino Server" screen will appear. Click "NEXT" to continue.

  4. Choose your method of connecting to the server. If you are in the office, choose the "Connect through a LAN" radio button. Click "NEXT" to continue.

  5. On the next screen, enter your server name. Ask your administrator if you are unsure. Click "NEXT" to continue.

  6. Browse for your ".id" file or use your Lotus Notes Name on the next screen. If you are unsure, contact your administrator. Press "NEXT" to continue.

  7. Setup is complete.

  8. You may or may not want to set up your email,news,directory server and proxy servers. This is usually done by the Domino administrator. At this point, you will have enough information to run AppDetectivePro for Lotus Domino.
