Application Security, Inc. Announces Analytics 1.0

Next-Generation Reporting and Dashboards Ease Compliance With Today's Security and Regulatory Requirements

NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO (Oracle OpenWorld Conference), September 25, 2008 - Application Security, Inc., the leading provider of database security solutions for the enterprise, today announced the Analytics 1.0 reporting console for its industry-leading DbProtect™ database security suite.  Analytics complements DbProtect's existing reporting capabilities by adding management-level dashboards and reports that address the varying security, compliance and operational needs faced by most organizations.

Given the increased regulatory focus on enterprise data security, flexible and customizable reporting capabilities based on industry best-practices are especially critical.  To address these needs, Application Security, Inc. developed the Analytics dashboard and reporting console, and built it into DbProtect to offer customers an integrated view of security and compliance information, including vulnerability assessment, privileged user and patch-gap data.  This combination of vulnerability assessment and monitoring information is entirely unique in today's market, and provides organizations with a more complete understanding of the state of their database controls and how they relate to security and compliance requirements.

"Today's increasingly targeted attacks, concerns about insiders and mounting regulatory requirements mean organizations must ground their security and compliance efforts where data lives: in the database," said Trent Henry, vice president, Burton Group.  "An effective data-centric security program must span all elements of database protection: discovery, assessment, monitoring and reporting.  In cost-conscious times, automating these critical steps is not a nicety; it's required."

Based on the industry-leading Cognos business intelligence suite, DbProtect's Analytics module provides customers with an enhanced set of dashboards consisting of security, compliance and operations key performance indicators (KPI).  In addition, Analytics produces trending, progress, privileged activity, patch-gap analysis and compliance reports.

Summarized highlights include:

  • Executive-level dashboards and reports provide a comprehensive overview of organizational security and compliance status
  • Operational-level dashboards and reports ensure systems are functioning properly
  • Drill-down capabilities within the dashboards provide access to increased detail
  • More than 20 new reports make it easy to base security and compliance initiatives based on industry best practices
  • Flexible reporting features to provide organizations with solutions to meet their internal and auditing initiatives
  • Multi-format reports ease integration with internal and third-party systems: MS Word, PDF, HTML, MS Excel and Raw Data

"Organizations are struggling to meet expanding requirements for database security and compliance in an increasingly lean staffing environment," said Ted Julian, vice president, strategy & marketing, Application Security, Inc. "Analytics' ability to automate the process across database discovery, assessment and monitoring based on industry best-practices helps customers meet these demands without requiring legions of database security experts."

"The aggregation of data pulled from multiple vulnerability tools, services and sources into a consistent reporting format, designed to meet organizational needs, is the model that many enterprises are migrating toward today," said a security professional for a major global cruise line. "Where complying with regulatory initiatives involves multiple teams where risk and capacity constraints exist, it's critical to today's global organizations to proactively monitor activity at the database level and demonstrate competency in producing ‘operationalized' reports.  We look to trusted, best-of-breed vendors to provide this comprehensive capability, enabling us to focus on integrating solutions that automate any remediation work necessary, and help us comply with initiatives like SOX through a powerful reporting platform"
